The Kentucky Oaks is the leading dirt race for three-year-old fillies in the United States, first run in 1875 alongside the Derby. It is staged at Churchill Downs over 1⅛ miles on dirt on the Friday before the Kentucky Derby, and its winners are draped in a garland of lilies.
Like the Derby, the Oaks field is decided by a points series, the Road to the Kentucky Oaks. Oaks Day draws one of the biggest crowds of the American season, second only to the Derby itself the following afternoon.
How to follow it here: the live Churchill Downs card and result appear above on race day, with full field, odds and finishing positions. As with all US racing on The Overlay this is data only, with no Overlay score. See all US racing and the Breeders’ Cup.
