The British and Irish season runs on a rhythm of championship days. The jumps campaign peaks in the spring with the Cheltenham Festival and the Grand National, with Ireland's Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday and the season signing off at the Punchestown Festival. The flat then builds through its five Classics: the 2000 and 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, the Derby and Oaks at Epsom, and the St Leger at Doncaster.
Summer is a run of championship meetings: Royal Ascot, the Irish Derby, the King George at Ascot, Glorious Goodwood and York's Ebor Festival, with Ireland's biggest week, the Galway Races, filling late July. The autumn brings the Irish Champions Festival, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at ParisLongchamp and British Champions Day to close the season. Each has a full guide here, and when the field is declared our value read on every runner appears on the card. For the American calendar, see the big US races.
