Who is paying extra today
Races still to run
Top runners by each-way valueEach-way value is the expected return of a 1-unit each-way bet at that bookmaker's price and terms, using fair chances, minus the stake. +5% means the bet is priced 5% above fair. It does not mean the horse will place: most runners still lose. Bookmakers may limit stakes or change terms close to the off. 18+ · BeGambleAware.org
What are each-way extra places?
Standard each-way terms pay a set number of places for the field size and race type, for example 3 places at 1/5 of the odds in an 8-runner race. Some bookmakers pay an extra place on selected races, for example 4 places, which makes the place half of an each-way bet more likely to pay out.
Is an extra place always better?
Not always. An extra place often comes with a smaller fraction (1/5 instead of 1/4) or a shorter win price. That is why we work out the value for every runner rather than flagging the race.
How do you work out the chance to place?
We take every bookmaker's price for every runner, use the median, and take the bookmakers' margin out so the field adds up to 100%. Those fair win chances give each runner's chance of finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th using the Harville method, the standard way to turn win chances into place chances. It slightly overrates favourites to place, so treat small edges with care.
Where do the prices come from?
The Racing API, which reports 20+ UK and Irish bookmakers. We check every few minutes from 7am to 10pm. Always confirm the price and terms with the bookmaker before you bet.
